INFLUENTIAL EVENTS
(A small note! To enhance the protagonist's background since he is nameless in the game as with most Shin Megami Tensei games, I use a lot of background from the manga of the same name. The manga was approved by the Atlus staff, and is considered a fleshing out of the main game's story line.)

THE DEATH OF HIS TWIN BROTHER, KAZUYA
Kazuya and Naoya resembled each other so much that even their parents weren't able to discern them accurately. Unfortunately, Naoya got sick at a young age and make him feel better, his twin went off to buy a manga while his mother was chatting with friends and was hit by a car, causing his death.

Naoya's guilt inside him continued to build up for years, and affected his temperament in school. To make sure he remembered who he is, he pierced his ear at the age of 12 so that he doesn't accidentally think himself as Kazuya. Whenever he is stressed or in deep thought, he will without fail start to rub it idly. The earring he wears is a memento; even if his brother is gone, he won't forget him.

For the sake of his lost sibling, he always moves on forward so his brother can be proud of him, especially after he fought against his inner demons and won. It gives him a deeper understanding for his friends who wish to do the same, and in return, he offers them kind words to ease their own inner torments.

PLAYING THE PERSONA GAME
What started as a bet between friends about a rumor of being able to see your future if you summoned "Persona-sama" into the world became Naoya's adventure into the mystical and unknown. Gaining the ability to use Personas from Philemon, this started a chain of events that would end up with him having to save the world and growing closer to his classmates. He would emerge as their leader, being able to calm them down and keep everyone into a clear path (and trust me they thought about killing each other at one point, hence why he is also known as the 'cat herder'). After gaining the powers of Persona, he lets his raw emotions sometimes push him to do heroic and crazy things to protect others.

DEFEATING KANDORI
Kandori, who they had assumed was their main foe, had gained the powers to essentially become a god. Watching him hesitate to destroy humanity as he had threatened, and then his teammates pointing out the man's weaknesses, made him realize how important it is to be true to ones' self. Being questioned about his plans on what he wants to do, Naoya tells him that he believes in finding his own future - nothing needs to be set in stone, something which gives Kandori peace before his death.

This is also the time when he becomes much closer to his teammates as they realize that their adventure is not quite over yet, and that one of their companions has actually been the cause of everything since the start because she's connected to a special machine, and they've been traveling with an ideal shadow of that sick person.

FACING BOTH OF HIS OTHER SELVES
During their adventures, Naoya had been plagued by someone who looked just like him (minus the earring) claiming to be his brother, Kazuya. In truth, it was the physical representation of his guilt and self-doubt after his brother's death, whose mission was to try and take over Naoya's mind and become the personality 'in control'. After fighting each other, he finally realizes what Kazuya' is, and accepts his shadow as goes back into him and he promises to be a better person continuing forward.

But that's not all! He also has another aspect of himself busy playing video games in his mind, and acting more like a guide, replays all that Naoya done during his adventure, essentially judging him and telling him he did good (saving people even when they were chased by zombies, saving a man at the cost of letting an enemy go, easing Kandori's death and so on). This proof of good leadership grants everyone their ultimate Personas and further solidifies their friendship and Naoya's proof of being a caring soul.

SAYING GOODBYE TO IDEAL MAKI
Once their adventures came to an end, Naoya was the only one who knew the truth - that once everything was fixed, the Ideal Maki that had been traveling with them would return to the real Maki's mind - and just like his other two aspects, would just be aspects of Maki's personality and not like the Maki that had been with them. In a way it was like witnessing the death of a friend, and this Maki didn't help at all by saying "I love you" before teleporting him away from the world they were in as it collapsed.

POWERS & ABILITIES:

- The powers of a Persona give its user a stronger resistance to harm (depending on which Persona they are using, this may increase or decrease against certain elements and skills). As an example, Brown, who hadn't activated his persona yet is nearly bleeding to death while everyone else was mostly unharmed from the attack.

- Earlier persona users have the ability to detect other users and characters with high magic levels. Their personas 'speak' to them to warm them of what is happening, since, technically their personas are other sides of themselves. This ability would later be given to 'navigators' in the later games and enhanced greatly. You could say that Naoya is more akin to a mini-navigator, he can't see dungeons, and can detect users only if they are somewhat close to him.

- The power to summon Personas. As a protagonist and being granted the power by Philemon himself, Naoya, like his entire team, is a Wild Card user, which means he is able to switch around multiple Personas (the ones with circles mean he cannot use them apart from the ones marked as such in the Emperor Arcana.

- I've made a basic list of the ones he'll be using the most. A persona is the ability to summon demons and angels as avatars to do battles with a multitude of skills. Unlike later Persona users, Naoya simply has to raise a hand and summon his Personas.

- The ability to wield swords and submachine guns without much issue

IC INFO;

CHARACTER NAME: Naoya Toudou
AGE: 17
CANON Persona 1 (+manga)
CANON POINT End of the game, post graduation
HISTORY: here! for his page and here for the game's story itself.

PERSONALITY:
(A small note! To enhance the protagonist's background since he is nameless in the game as with most Shin Megami Tensei games, I use a lot of background from the manga of the same name. The manga was approved by the Atlus staff, and is considered a fleshing out of the main game's story line.)

Once upon a time, there was a cat herder named Naoya who had the worst class of friends, and they all embarked on an adventure while at the same time everyone else wondered how they managed to be friends at all.

Naoya's arcana is intricately tied to his personality. As the Emperor, it solidifies his position as a natural leader, who thinks things through but ready to speak his mind, despite how harsh the situation before them might be. Naoya tends to keep quiet unless he is excited, but his words are crafted and calculated. When he is angry, he is prone to snapping or screaming, but this is partly because his friends also react that way and it's a monkey see, monkey do type of response. If the person he's talking against doesn't reply the same, he'll go back to a calmer demeanor.

After gaining the powers of Persona, he lets his raw emotions sometimes push him to do heroic and crazy things to protect others. His braveness is no facade - with Naoya what you see is what you get. His grip on himself is strong and deeply rooted, and he is extremely calm despite the horror that they fight against. It is this bravery that helps the group work as a team and continue to fight through SEBEC and the Other World. No matter how grim a situation can be, Naoya always stands to believe in hope and that things can be fixed and repaired. Atonement is important to him - he tells Kandori (one of the antagonists having a midlife crisis) that he believes in finding his own future.

His friends have wondered why Naoya wears an earring. The story itself is rather tragic; the boy used to have a twin, Kazuya and they resembled each other so much that even their parents weren't able to discern them accurately. Unfortunately, Naoya got sick at a young age and was unable to come with his brother to the dentist. To make him feel better, his twin went off to buy a manga while his mother was chatting with friends and was hit by a car, causing his death.

The news shakes up his mother, and she at first mistakes Naoya for Kazuya to the point where the twin wondered who he was himself. It doesn't help when he is given a speech by a relative about what Naoya should do with the situation. The guilt inside him continued to build up for years, and affected his temperament in school. To make sure he remembered who he is, he pierced his ear at the age of 12 so that he doesn't accidentally think himself as Kazuya. Whenever he is stressed or in deep thought, he will without fail start to rub it idly.

In the end, as he grew up. his resolution to 'live for two' became stronger out of it. For the sake of his lost sibling, always moves on forward so he can be proud of him, especially after he fought against his inner demons (literally in his case). It gives him a deeper understanding for the party members who wish to do the same, and in return, he offers them kind words to ease their own inner torments. However, this also harbored (at least until he faces against his shadow) a deep guilt of not having been there in his brother's last moment. The earring he wears is a memento; even if his brother is gone, he won't forget him.

His willingness to put his own personal danger in jeopardy for that of his friends and even complete strangers has earned him the respect of his peers time and time again (even if some of them think he's crazy for doing so.) Before trying to capture someone, Naoya will be the guy who who makes sure that the innocents present are taken care of, even if he knows there is a good chance that their foe might escape. To him, all life is important, and he is deeply moved by someone's death.

His personality seems to attract others to him; his friends comment about how unusually calm and brave he is during the adventures (the girls also comment how good looking he is). Naoya is calm and rarely complains (mostly because his friends do for him, geeze). He treats his friends much like a combination of a leader and a kind father; willing to put his own life for their sake without a moment's notice, screaming at them if they are about to do something really stupid to snap them out of it. Without him and his leadership, he is told at one part, they would have been lost to the dungeon mazes.

Naoya takes this responsibility seriously - he is never harsh with his friends unless he needs to be, despite some of them being...well...themselves and having clashing personalities. He will stand between two friends arguing about what to do, and be the one that makes the final decision with them respecting it as well. He's not afraid of headbutting against the 'terrible' Reiji either, despite that one being so feared by everyone else.

He always speaks the truth, both good or bad. He admits in one part of their adventure that he still liked his friend Maki's paintings much more than Harem Queen's, despite knowing that the Queen would kill him for it. When Maki was grieving and feeling ashamed about what her and her other selves had done, Naoya's only words offered to her was "Stop this", allowing her somehow to snap out of it and to come back to her senses. He is harsh but practices tough love when it needs to be, but somehow does so in a way that is more charismatic and less harsh than his friend Nanjo.

Yet underneath, there was a strong amount of guilt that drove him to be all these things. He does not like death much, especially after the death of his brother. A confrontation happened, built from years of regret. Fighting his other shadow self that went around pretending to be Kazuya nearly cost him his life. However, in the end it left the confrontation with new appreciation and the ability to move on, along with his strongest persona.

What he believes in now, he will see to the end, and he values his friends more than anything else, even despite all their faults and problems. He believes in a bright future, now and forever.

CANON POWERS:

- The powers of a Persona user give its user a stronger resistance to harm (depending on which Persona they are using). Here is an example where Brown hadn't activated his persona yet and while everyone else is okay from the attack, he is nearly bleeding to death.
- Earlier persona users have the ability to detect other users and characters with high magic levels. Their personas 'speak' to them to warm them of what is happening, since, technically their personas are other sides of themselves.
- The power to summon Personas. As a protagonist and being given the power by Philemon himself, Naoya is a Wild Card user, which means he is able to switch around multiple Personas (except those that are soul personas of his friends, marked with little circles next to their levels). A persona is the ability to summon demons and angels as avatars to do battles. Think Pokemon crossed with Jojo and there you go.
- Unlike later Persona users, Naoya simply has to raise a hand and summon his Personas.
- The power to control a bunch of wild cats that are his friends tbh.

GAME INFO;

CRAU INFO: N\A
MAGIC ABILITY: Video Game Weapon Shifting. Naoya can become any type of video game weapon. The more fantastic, the better. Nothing godmody mind you, but he can take on some of the fairly impressive arsenals. He can be a BFG. He can be a chainsaw. He can be a staff of fireballs. He can be a magical sword of smiting. The only limit is his imagination, his analyzation of the current situation and what best to make it work.

The problem is once Naoya is transformed, he can't do anything except mentally talk to people around him. Like...magical cloud of smoke, poof! Transformed, and there's the sword on the ground. So, at cost of...well being unable to move, Naoya can have someone else who is with him wield whatever weapon he turns into. This power only works when he's with someone else; Naoya could turn into a crossbow, but he can't fire himself.

Additionally there are many ways this can misfire (hurr), because everything is made to look or act like a video game weapon instead of a proper one, they might act different than a typical weapon. They might be comically larger or smaller than a typical weapon and the person will need to arrange themselves for that too. Naoya might have a very tiny amount of fireball charges and then it blows up in their face. There might be 3 bullets for a shootgun. The gun might fire a single laser cat firework. The possibilities are stupidly endless.

And if he uses it too much in rapid succession, it will increase his chances of backfiring. Think you could change yourself into a firerod twice to defeat the foe and bypass the fact there were only 2 charges the first time? Too bad, here's the ice toothpick with 15 charges, no deal with it, sorry Naoya has no idea how that happened.

ANY WEAPONS/MAGICAL ITEMS?: Naoya will be arriving with his submachine gun because why would you not show up with a submachine gun when you have one (and totally borrowed it from a police station). MY QUESTION TO THE MODS: how many bullets would he get with it? Can he get bullets for it?

If he cannot, I will just have him come with his sword. Less bullet refills are needed.
ANY PETS?: Naoya has no pets.

- Boopable nose
- Fangs
- Tiger claws on hands and feet (the ones on his hands can retract)
- Tiger pads on his feet

⯌ Mental changes - Will chase lasers because I am horrible

⯌ Other - Growls like a tiger when annoyed
- The fire seems to be mostly harmless unless he is really pissed off
- More seriously, if he is under a lot of stress, he might be taken over not just by the demon, but also by "Kazuya" who is another aspect of himself that is a lot more dangerous and willing to get things done, and has wanted to take control of Naoya's body. "Kazuya" is one of Naoya's shadows born from his self-loathing from his brother's death and has warned Naoya before that if he is to slip, he might take over if he is not true to himself. (They had a sword battle in his mind. Also he pretended to be his dead twin brother for a while. Good times).
